COUNTY COMMISSIONERS’ COURT OCTOBER

Chris Brown called the special joint meeting of the Sulphur Springs City
Council with the Hopkins County Commissioners’ Court to order at 11:37
a.m. The following council

Chris Brown presented the invocation. DISCUSSION/ACTION ON REQUEST FROM HOPKINS COUNTY TO PURCHASE 2
ADDITIONAL ACRES ON SOUTH TEXAS STREET FROM THE CITY OF SULPHUR SPRINGS Commissioner
Wisenbaker presented drawings of the proposed outlay of the new
intermodal facility. City
Manager Marc Maxwell presented drawings indicating that the proposed
facility would fit on the property that the county already owns which
eliminates the need for an additional two (2) acres.
There was a lengthy, general discussion regarding this issue but
no action was taken. DISCUSSION OF TRANSPORTATION ISSUES IN THE COMING YEARS IN REGARDS TO
HOPKINS COUNTY AND CITY OF SULPHUR SPRINGS
- STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDING OF FUTURE PROJECTS A.
RADIO ROAD EXTENSION FROM I-30 TO TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY 11 EAST. B.
TEXAS STATE HIGHWAY 11 WEST OF SULPHUR SPRINGS TO COMMERCE
A brief and general discussion was
conducted. DISCUSSION/ACTION OF HOPKINS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS’ COURT’S
CONTRIBUTION TO THE SULPHUR SPRINGS MUNICIPAL LIBRARY City
Manager Marc Maxwell stated that the funding to support the Municipal
Library by Hopkins County is inadequate.
Budgeted costs exceed $300,000 and Hopkins County contributes
$22,500 on an annual basis. Approximately
forty-four percent of the users of the library live in the county.
City Manager Marc Maxwell requested that Hopkins County
contribute more funding and budget accordingly in the future.
There was a general discussion regarding
this issue but no action was taken. ADJOURN With
all business complete the meeting adjourned at 1:05 p.m. |
