DRB Chairman G.V. Hughes called the regular meeting of the Downtown Revitalization Board to order at 6:30 P.M.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES OF OCTOBER 17, 2006:

A motion was made by Roy Pelton and seconded by Sara Gibson to approve the meeting minutes of October 17, 2006. Motion carried, all voting aye.

DISCUSSION/ACTION REVIEW OF CHAPTERS 5, 6, & 7:

The Board reviewed Chapters 5, 6, & 7 of the Design Guidelines and had no changes.  These chapters will stand as written.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

Johnny advised the Board that Staff would proceed with the final three chapters and present them at the meeting in December.

Johnny gave an update on the progress with Tomlinson St.  He informed the Board that the closure would make way for a tourist information center on the corner and a farmer’s market near City Hall.

Johnny informed the Board that Mark Spencer has been hired to present preliminary drawings for the wayfinding signs at the entrances going into downtown.  The sign design will be done so that it captures the architecture of the Courthouse.  When drawings are complete and ready for review he will bring them to the Board for their approval.  Two locations, the corner of Main and Tomlinson and the Y at Oak and Gilmer, have been selected as sites for the monuments as well as two other locations identified in the Downtown Master Plan.

Johnny advised the Board that the ordinance they had sent to City Council was approved.  This gives the Board the authority to approve the Downtown Design Guidelines without having to go before the City Council.

Johnny and Billie Ruth Standbridge gave a report on the Downtown Business Alliance’s most recent meeting which included a speaker from McKinney, TX.

ADJOURN:

With no other business before the Board, Chairman G.V. Hughes adjourned the meeting at 7:07 P.M.
