CITY COUNCIL

THIS IS ELECTION DAY!  CITY HALL IS A POLLING PLACE AND THE MEETING WILL START AT 7:30 P.M.

 

The regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs City Council will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 in the Council Room at 125 South Davis.  The following items will be discussed:

  1. Pledge and invocation.

  2. Manager’s Report will include status of capital improvements, accidents and claims for the month, and a review of expenditures and revenues.

  3. Discussion/action on consent agenda:

a)   City Council Regular Meeting Minutes of October 3, 2006

b)      Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes of October 16, 2006

c)   Zoning Board of Adjustments Meeting Minutes of October

      17, 2006

d)   Downtown Revitalization Board Meeting Minutes of

      October 17, 2006

  1. Discussion/action on second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2455 proposing to annex 1,274.6 acres of land with approximately 11 families residing in the proposed annexation areas.

  2. Discussion/action on second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2454 Updating the Service Credits for city employees and retirees.

  3. Discussion/action on second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2457 establishing criteria for downtown development and establishing a downtown historic district.  

  4. Discussion/action on second and final reading of Ordinance No. 2456 on rezoning property located on Gilmer Street, the portion of Lot 20A-R being combined with Lot 4A of Block 47-2 of the Gilmer Hill Addition from Heavy Commercial to Light Commercial.

  5.  Discussion/action on bids and award of contract for concrete and concrete accessories for Woodbridge Crossing.

  6. Discussion/action on bids and award of contract for concrete and concrete accessories for Whitworth Street.

  7. Discussion/action on Mutual Aid Fire Protection agreement.

  8.  Discussion/action on amended contract with Brashear Water Supply Corporation.

  9.  Discussion/action on abatement proceedings for 1220 Texas Street.

  10.  Discussion/action on abatement proceedings for 218 West Ross Street.

  11.   Discussion/action on abatement proceedings for 722 South Davis Street.

  12.  Visitors/public forum.

  13.  Adjourn.

 

The City of Sulphur Springs will provide assistance to the hearing impaired if notice is given to the City Secretary 48 hours prior to the scheduled meeting date so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

 

The City Council of the City of Sulphur Springs, Texas meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Municipal Building.  The Council follows a printed agenda for official action, however, following the conclusion of the agenda, anyone may address the Council but Council will not take official action.  Any individual desiring official action should submit his request to the office of the City Secretary by 12:00 noon on the Wednesday before the next regularly scheduled meeting.

 

The City Council reserves the right to adjourn into executive session at any time during the course of this meeting to discuss any of the matters listed above, as authorized by Texas Government Code, Section 551.071 (Consultation with Attorney), 551.072 (Deliberations about Real Property), 551.073 (Deliberations about Gifts and Donations); 551.074 (Personnel Matters, must be stated specifically with regard to position) 551.076 (Deliberations about security devices) and 551.087 (Economic Development).
